The Ohio River Valley Women’s Business Council (ORV-WBC) hosted its’ 7th annual Catch the Wave Conference which was held in Cleveland, Ohio from April 18th – 20th. The ORV-WBC was established in 2009 to provide Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) certification to woman-owned businesses in the states of Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia. ORV-WBC operates under the Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio, Business Development & Entrepreneurship Department through a collaborative effort with WBENC.

From May 23-26, National Urban League staffers attended the 2016 National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB) National Training, Breaking Ground, in Dallas, Texas. The conference used a unique "train-the-trainer" format to provide nonprofit practitioners serving low-to-moderate income Latino and immigrant communities with best practices and emerging innovations in the field.
