Jacksonville Nonprofit Helps Unique Businesses Succeed
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A local businessman is in the running to be accepted into a pretty unique program, and it's all thanks to a non-profit that told him about it to begin with.
The program is called Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses.
Tony McNair, owner of the Downtown Cigar Lounge, said he heard about the program after working extensively with the Jacksonville Urban League. He said the non-profit has helped him take advantage of various resources, classes, training opportunities and counseling to help grow his business.
"We're looking to eventually franchise in our community and grow in the city of Jacksonville and maybe outside of Jacksonville, too," he said.
McNair said the Urban League helped him get the necessary paperwork completed to enter the Goldman Sachs program. If he wins, he'll get the chance to go through an education and mentoring program he believes will help his current business thrive.
