Mr. George is a 19 year old male who currently resides with his mother and two other siblings, and who was only employed for four months prior to completing the intake process at the Urban League. Mr. George joined the Urban Supply Chain Jobs Program after an in-depth presentation on the program benefits, as well as a counseling session with the Pinellas County Urban League student advocate and his family, hoping to obtain additional skills and a certification to add to his newly gained work experience.
Mr. George’s barriers to employment included a lack of transportation, and his new responsibility of assisting with his younger siblings.
Since completing his customer service operations training, Mr. George has a newfound interest in customer service operations, and wants to truly combine this skill with computer programing to a career.
The Urban Supply Chain Jobs Program has contributed to Mr. George’s transformation by making education and employment skills accessible and affordable to him and his family. He’s been given additional skills that will assist him with a career, not just employment.
Mr. George believes his family and the PCUL working together, serving, as a support system has contributed to his transformation. Mr. George’s family along with PCUL predicts long-term success for him due to his positive attitude and his new interest in combining customer service with his computer programing skills.
