New York Times: State Challenges Seen as Whittling Away Federal Education Law

A walk-a-thon to benefit InfaTech was held on Tuesday at the Greater Stark County Urban League (Canton, OH).

InfaTech is a new literacy-based, early intervention program that utilizes technology and age-appropriate websites.

The project is the brainchild of Hartford Middle School teacher Myra Watkins in partnership with the Greater Stark County Urban League.

The Urban League of Broward County announced that, for the 11th consecutive year, it will host a rally to help prepare low-income students and families get ready for school.

This year, the event will feature local resource providers such as Kaplan University, Broward College and Office Depot and will include an education zone, a health zone and a kid's zone with music, games and giveaways.
 

Fifteen volunteers became the first graduating class of the Digital Connectors service program on Tuesday night.
 
The graduation ceremony was held at the Olivet Baptist Church next to the Chattanooga Urban League office.
 

More than 100 youths attended a youth empowerment and leadership summit last Friday at Indiana University Northwest. The daylong gathering featured workshops and presentations for youths and parents on leadership and empowerment skills.
