Fifteen volunteers became the first graduating class of the Digital Connectors service program on Tuesday night.
The graduation ceremony was held at the Olivet Baptist Church next to the Chattanooga Urban League office.
The six-week program accepts students ages 14 to 21 to participate in community service projects that promote digital literacy and service in local and diverse communities. Sponsors include Comcast, One Economy and the National Urban League.
“Comcast is always happy to partner with the Urban League,” said Jim Weigert, Vice President and General Manager of Comcast in Chattanooga. “We are extremely passionate about this program in particular because it encourages students to become involved and interested in technology at an early age.”
Digital Connectors is designed to allow teens to teach young people about digital literacy, internet safety, and creating websites.
The Urban League of Greater Chattanooga is currently in the process of recruiting students for the fall program.
