Washington, DC  (September 14, 2012) – The National Urban League today applauded the Federal Reserve’s latest round of quantitative easing that aims to prevent the weak recovery from getting any weaker, but warned that congressional action also is needed to create real and sustainable growth.

Over the last few weeks, both the Republican and Democratic parties held their nominating conventions.

Over the last few weeks, both the Republican and Democratic parties held their nominating conventions, officially designating former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama as their candidates for President.



Years ago, the nominees for President were selected by delegates during contested battles at the national conventions. In recent years, however, the nominations already have been clinched before the conventions begin. Some political observers say they are nothing more than days-long “infomercials.”
