Antoynica Ryan of the Ryan Institute LLC, was accepted into the winter cohort of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businessesprogram. Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businessesis an investment to help entrepreneurs create jobs and economic opportunity by providing greater access to education, capital and business support services. To date, more than 7,300 business owners have graduated from the program across all 50 states in the US, Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C.
The Capital Access Fund of Greater Cleveland (CAF), an $8 million loan fund started in 2016, was created to provide primarily African American and other minority small business owners with access to capital and technical assistance in order to sustain or create additional viable businesses that will create jobs and wealth in the Cleveland market.
T. McCall Electric & Plumbing is a family owned business, which provides electrical installation and plumbing services to commercial and residential clients. Tisheba McCall-Dixon and her two brothers inherited the business from their father and uncle. In 2012, they came to the Urban League of Philadelphia Entrepreneurship Center (ULEC) armed with a few modest contracts, including the City of Philadelphia and Loews, looking to expand. ULEC assisted them with their business plan and marketing and also helped them obtain a $100k line of credit to support their growth.

Victoria (Vikki) Tyson first came to the Urban League of Philadelphia Entrepreneurship Center (ULEC) in 2011 interested in incorporating social media in her marketing strategy. She had already been operating Victoria's Kitchen on Ogontz Avenue in West Oak Lane for a number of years with a team of 14 full-time and part-time employees. The restaurant serves southern style cuisines. ULEC assisted Vikki with her marketing strategy and prepared her to become a scholar of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program. In 2015, she began actively pursuing catering contracts.

On Thursday, September 6, 2018 the Greater Houston Black Chamber (GHBC) announced the 24thPinnacle Awards honorees for this year’s Mack H. Hannah Jr. Upstart Award. This year, two HAUL Entrepreneurship Center clients, Henry Keculah Jr., Founder of 4.0 GPA, and Deidre Mathis, Founder of Wanderstay Hotels were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments along with the incredible work they’re doing within the community.
Erica Myers, Executive Director/CEO of Fosterpreneur, has been a client of the Raymond V. Haysbert Sr., Center for Entrepreneurship (Haysbert Center) since its inception in 2016. Since becoming a client, the Haysbert Center has helped Fosterpreneur cultivate a dream into a fully operational non-profit. Its’ mission is to inspire and equip foster care youth with mindset development and coaching to launch businesses and become successful entrepreneurs.

Children's Book Author Gives Back in Jacksonville
Joan Green, a children’s author, felt the need to give. Once homeless, Ms. Green remembered lessons learned while growing up about the importance of learning to read and helping those who are in need of support. As a grandmother, Ms. Green was able to develop and write stories for her granddaughter, whom received great delight from Ms. Green reading purposefully-written stories containing lessons of conduct, while teaching reading skills.
