Charlotte, N.C. -- At first glance the basketball camp inside the Greenville Neighborhood Center looked like so many others where children are able to enhance their skills in basketball.

But "Full Court Press" is so much more than just learning basic skills from former NBA players; the program teaches local children the importance of education and overcoming adversity.

The Lorain County Urban League Project Ready students from Lorain City Schools created this PSA on texting and driving. State Farm and the National Urban League sponsored the project. This is part of a series of community service and service learning projects being completed by youth participating in the Lorain County Urban League Project Ready, Leadership Academy and Urban Youth Adventure programs.

State Test Scores Confirm Urban League's Concerns and Call to Action

Madison, WI - Today, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction released students' results on the annual statewide achievement test, Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Exam (WKCE). The results confirm concerns raised by the Urban League of Greater Madison, that disadvantaged students and students of color are severely underperforming in many of Wisconsin's public schools, particularly in the Madison Metropolitan School District.
