The Greater Washington Urban League (GWUL) hosted the kick-off of the Way to Well tour’s weeklong stay in the Washington, DC area. Leadership from GWUL and Walgreens, alongside members of the community, participated in the event which also featured a fitness expert and chef who provided heart-healthy fitness and cooking demonstrations.The event included remarks from Audrey Epperson, Director of Education & Training for GWUL; Rodney King, Senior Health Policy Advisor for Councilmember Yvette Alexander; Korey Paff, Community Leader for Walgreens; Michael Akin, Chairman of the GWUL Board of Directors and George Lambert Jr., CEO and President of GWUL.
The Way to Well Tour will be covered in the Washington Informer, DC’s leading African American outlet, as well as in next week’s hard copy edition of the Washington Afro American. A calendar item was also posted in the Fairfax Times community newspaper.
