The University of New England (UNE) commemorates the 50th anniversary of Dr. King’s historic 1964 visit to St. Francis College, which is now UNE's Biddeford Campus, with a semester-long series of speakers, events and community service in 2014 with the theme “The Struggle Continues.” One of the featured events/speaker:
Marc H. Morial is president and CEO of the National Urban League, the nation’s largest historic Civil Rights and Urban Advocacy organization. He has served as a Louisiana state senator, mayor of New Orleans, and as president of the bi-partisan U.S. Conference of Mayors, where he served during the 9/11 crisis and championed the creation of the Department of Homeland Security. Morial has a dual degree in Economics and African American Studies from the University of Pennsylvania and holds a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
