Location
Sunday marks the first Mother’s Day that Sybrina Fulton, mother of slain teen Trayvon Martin, will spend without her son since his senseless death. She is honoring the memory of her son by releasing a video asking parents to send an electronic Mother’s Day card to their governors urging them to “re-examine” "Stand Your Ground" type of laws that are believed to have played a role in ending Trayvon’s life. The video debuted on Friday on hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons’ GlobalGrind.com website.
It’s part of the Second Chance on Shoot First campaign that aims to raise awareness and repeal and prevent the passage of similar legislation, which has been enacted in 26 states and is pending in 10 others. Second Chance was created by a coalition that includes New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the NAACP, the National Urban League, ColorOfChange and other advocacy groups.
