NUL COMMENTS TO ESRD PROSPECTIVE PAYMENT SYSTEM and the QUALITY INCENTIVE PROGRAM (QIP)
The National Urban League submitted public comments to the Centers on Medicaid and Medicare Services regarding an important proposed rule to change Medicare billing for dialysis patients. African Americans with diabetes are more likely to develop diabetic complications and experience greater disability from these complications. Currently, forty-eight percent of the dialysis patients in the U.S. are minority and forty percent are African Americans. This comment letter reflect our concerns about the health disparities as well as concern for compromising patient care.
