Mr. Truman Saved His Home Thanks to the Lorain County Urban League!
Thanks to the Lorain County Urban League's Foreclosure Prevention Program, Mr. Gregory Truman was able to stop his home from going into foreclosure, saving him thousands of dollars in attorney fees, and reducing his monthly mortgage payment by $180/month!
In March 2016, Mr. Truman went to his local Urban League while five months delinquent on his mortgage. While his maintenance job was enough to afford the monthly payment, he needed help getting the loan current. The Urban League’s housing counselor completed the loan modification application with Mr. Truman and submitted it to M&T Bank within a week. It took five weeks for M&T Bank to review the application and offer Mr. Truman a three month trial payment plan. The new payment was reduced by $180/month to Mr. Truman’s surprise, with the arrears capitalized upon completion of the trial plan. Our housing counselor will continue to follow up with Mr. Truman until he receives his final loan modification offer.
