Job Placement Success in Los Angeles

Natalya, who got a job as a customer service representative with the help of the Los Angeles Urban League, writes about her experience:

“I cannot express my gratitude enough for my experience here at Los Angeles Urban League. Prior to coming to the Urban League, I had not had any clerical experience. The idea of me working at a social service building made me proud to go to work because I got to serve my community. While at the Urban League, I have been crossed-trained to do various things in an office environment I learned how to audit files, input clients information and use office equipment along with dealing with customers inquires in person and/or on the phone. My favorite part of my job was being the receptionist because I able to be a representative of such a great organization. I loved the networking process of Urban League between the job developers and career advisors. As I got to network myself, I got to connect with the job developers and when they hosted recruitments if I was interested I would participate. Through one of the recruitments I had become a part of a temp agency and one of the developers informed me of an upcoming opportunity with a logistics company. Before even applying for the position, the Uurban League staff helped me prepare for my pre-employment test which I passed. With the support services I was entitled to, I was provided gas cards along with a professional suit referral for my interview.  I felt confident when I went into my interview because I knew my Urban League family was in supportive prayers with me. I was offered a position with the company and I accepted, with all the office grooming and skills taught here at Los Angeles Urban League I am going to be able to utilize and excel as I move on in this new industry.  “
