Lauren H. 

On October 5, 2017, Lauren H. enrolled in Urban League of Louisiana Urban Reentry Jobs Program, while incarcerated at Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women (Jetson’s Facility). She was incarcerated for Bank Fraud.  Lauren served three years of a ten-year sentence. Her legal problems began at age twenty-four. She received two convictions over a period of five years and served a total of four years for both convictions.

Until the age of three, Lauren lived with both of her parents.  When her parents separated, she spent equal time with the both of them.  Lauren is a recovering drug addict and has been clean for the past six-years. 

With the help of the Urban League, Lauren was place into a ServSafe training and is schedule to complete training in December 2017.. On November 3, 2017, Lauren was connected to fulltime employment a prep cook earning $10.00 per hour.

Lauren shared this statement regarding her experience regarding her enrollment in Training 2 Work. “When the Urban League came to the prison to provide an information session, I knew that I would take advantage of the program to get what I needed, a second chance. I just could not believe that the ball was never dropped and everything promised has happened. I thank the Urban League so much for the transportation assistance, rental assistance and the check-in phone calls. I cannot thank you enough for everything that Urban League workforce staff has done to assist me since being home. “
