Empty-Nesters Find Overdue Job Success!
The Los Angeles Urban League (LAUL) has the honor and privilege of working with Juanita H., a graduate of Cal State University Long Beach with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Juanita was employed with the Northrop Aircraft Division from 1989-1991 as a Pricing Estimate Analyt, but then decided to become a stay at home mom. Juanita’s son is now off to college, and she wants to get back in the workforce. Her husband is her primary support financially in which she is now ready to contribute. Juanita came to LAUL looking for employment opportunities in Supply Chain Management. Juanita H. was optimistic about joining the USCJP (Urban Supply Chain Job Program) and was unsure of what to expect after being unemployed for 20 years. After reviewing the curriculum and being orientated Juanita decided to enroll in the program. Juanita was able to pass four exams: Supply Chain Management, Customer Service, Demand Planning, and Procurement. Juanita completed each cohort, passed the credential exams and scored a 100% on her credential exam. After she had completed the Inventory Management credential exam, John Jackson (Program Manager) sent Juanita on job interviews. During this time Juanita’s confidence has grown tremendously, and she is sure she will be employed soon.
