Los Angeles Urban League Gets Jared Back on Track
Jared M. has been long-term unemployed since 2013 and encountering difficulty obtaining 
employment due to his ex-offender background and gap in work history. Jared relied on public assistance to support himself. Jared learned about the Urban Construction Jobs Program (UCJP) at the Los Angeles Urban League, and .expressed interest in the UCJP program due to his background in the construction and trade industry. He was referred to attend the UCJP workshops.
Jared successfully completed the UCJP workshops and was hired on the spot at the construction site where all participants of the UCJP workshop got immersed. Jared passed all drug tests and began to work.
Additionally, Jared was provided with supportive services—construction tools, gear and work boots—at the Urban League.
Jared was hired by the Onni Group on 8/19/2016. He continues to work for Onni and has already been tasked to supervise other workers at the site.
Jared is very appreciative of all the help extended on him by the Urban League towards his transition back to work, and he anticipates to be financially stable and successful in the construction/trade industry.
