Job Skills Get Noticed in Columbus, OH
Shanice came to the Columbus Urban League inquiring about employment opportunities that would provide stability and allow her to support her family financially. Shanice hoped to gain knowledge from The Urban Supply Chain Job Program that would permit her to take her skills to the next level. Her long term goals were to find a stable job, pay off any debt, and earn her Associate’s degree. She has a fantastic support system and felt confident in her ability to be successful in the program.
Shanice instantly became an assistant as well as a role model to her peers and the Columbus Urban League; she displayed excellent customer service skills and impressive work ethic. While excelling in the program, Shanice continued to provide supportive service to her peers as well as staff.
Shanice worked hard and attained her Customer Service Operations certification in December 2016. Her services were so impressive to the staff that she was offered a position with the Columbus Urban League.
Shanice is the new Workforce Program Admin, and her job duties include performing clerical and administrative functions within the Workforce Development department, tracking spending per each grant budget, maintaining program files, and acting as front desk staff as needed.
With her new ability to financially support her family, the Columbus Urban League knows that Shanice will continue to grow and prosper.
