Should I Go to College Event Brings Out NoVa UL Project Ready Students, Officials from Department of Education, Local HBCUs

The audience included members of the Northern Virginia Urban League, NVUL Young Professionals and students from NVUL Project Ready.
Representatives from the University of District of Columbia Community College, Howard University and DC Public Schools offered frank advice on why college is so crucial, how to prepare for college, how to manage the application process and how to find the right college “fit.” Desiree Luckey, the 2012 State of Black America essay contest winner, was a part of the panel and talked about how college has helped to broaden her life experiences and pursue her passion for politics.
A Resource Roundtable followed the panel discussion with representatives from the Department of Education demonstrating the www.FAFSA.com website, which helps visitors navigate the federal student aid process. The Education Trust was also on hand demonstrate their online college evaluation and comparison tool.
