PROTECT JOB TRAINING PROGRAMS FROM ADDITIONAL DEVASTATING BUDGET CUTS
With nearly 14 million Americans remaining unemployed, now is NOT the time to subject our federal job training programs to further devastating cuts! Take action by contacting your members of Congress and urging them to support investments in our nation’s workforce development and employment system.
Tell them that job training programs work! Did you know that:
- Last year more than 8 million individuals received training and other employment services that were funded under Title I of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) – a 234 percent increase in participation rates in just two years
- More than 4.3 million WIA participants found jobs last year, and hundreds of thousands more received training and education that will open up new career opportunities.
Share your concern that on top of millions of dollars in FY2011 budget cuts to job training programs, some House Republicans are now proposing $18.2 billion more in cuts in labor, health and education programs alone. This means that once again job training programs will be placed in jeopardy!
