PROTECT JOB TRAINING PROGRAMS FROM DEVESTATING BUDGET CUTS
With nearly 14 million Americans remaining unemployed, now is NOT the time to subject our federal job training programs to further devastating cuts! Take action by contacting your members of Congress and urging them to support investments in our nation’s workforce development and employment system.

RESTORE HOUSING FORECLOSURE COUNSELING While there isn't any significant housing legislation that has been formally introduced, there is an active debate around the future of housing finance (with possible legislation pending), and a more recent ongoing discussion around principles of risk retention as legislated by the Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform Act of 2010. Outside the purely legislative realm, there is a sprited effort to restore and protect housing counseling funding - the single most effective government-backed solution to the foreclosure crisis. This collective charge is being spearheaded by NUL. Click here for more information and to send your letter of support. |

URBAN JOBS ACT of 2011
Contact your Senator and urge them to co-sponsor the Urban Jobs Act of 2011 (S. 922) - Letter of Support, formally introduced in the United States Senate by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY). As an ongoing effort to address the rising rate of unemployment in urban communities (it now stands at 16.2% among African Americans and African American Youth unemployment has risen to 40.7%), the National Urban League has declared a “War on Unemployment”. In addition to developing the Jobs Rebuild America Plan, we are supporting the Urban Jobs Act of 2011 (S. 922). Click here for more information and to send your |
