Join The National Urban League as we seek to amend the Fiscal Year 2011 Continuing Resolution to reinstate the $88 million of HUD-approved housing counseling funding, and defend this vital program for the fiscal year 2012 federal budget. As the ongoing residential foreclosure crisis facing Americans increases at an alarming rate throughout our country, we urge you to support and defend the single most effective government-sponsored effort to stop the spread of foreclosures attacking our communities.
Housing Counseling Agencies have provided vital assistance to Americans needing foreclosure counseling during this economic downturn that include:
- Prevented mortgage delinquency for 2.6 million households, with nearly 834,000 Americans avoiding foreclosure
- Provided counseling to more than 420,000 families or individuals considering a home purchase, resulting in 185,000 who purchased homes
- Americans facing foreclosure are 60% more likely to hold onto their homes than those who don't receive counseling
- After Foreclosure Counseling and Loan Modification, Americans' monthly mortgate can be $454 less per month than those who don't receive counseling
- Assisted more than 590,000 renters and homeless individuals to either resolve tenant issues or find shelter.
Won't you join The National Urban League as we lead this charge to restore $88 million of HUD-approved housing foreclosure counseling funding?
