The National Urban League kicked off its 8th Annual Legislative Policy Conference with a spirited workshop for Emerging Leaders. The activity was led by Wanda Jackson's Talent Management team. The sessions exposed participants to the competencies in the League's Leadership Model and links classroom learning with real-time activities.

The opening luncheon for the 8th Annual Legislative Policy Conference was held at the Liason Hotel on Capitol Hill. We were honored to have Melody Barnes, Assistant to the President of the United States and Director for the Domestic Policy Council, as our keynote speaker. Secretary Hilda Solis, Department of Labor, delivered remarks and met with Urban Leaguers afterwards and in a breakout session.

National Urban League President and CEO, Marc Morial, provided a policy overview and nationally recognized pollster, Dr. Silas Lee offered analysis on polling data regarding job creation and spending cuts. Leaders used the briefing in preparation for their visits with members of Congress on Wednesday
