What is the Urban Construction Jobs Program?

The Urban Construction Jobs Program is the pilot program for the National Urban League’s sector-based initiatives. The goal of the program is to recruit and enroll unemployed and underemployed individuals and prepare them for jobs in the construction industry. Pre-Apprenticeship will be used as a key step in the construction trades career pathway/ladder The ultimate goal is to place and retain these young adults in jobs that provide a livable wage with opportunities for career advancement. Wrap-around services are also available to participants, such transportation assistance, union dues, work boots, and tools.

Where can I find the Urban Construction Jobs Program?

The Urban Construction Jobs Program is operated by three National Urban League affiliates:

Los Angeles Urban League
Greater Sacramento Urban League
Urban League of San Diego County

Affiliates offer a broad range of services to participants, and leverage their local partnerships with employers, colleges and post-secondary vocational training programs to offer job placement and supportive services.

Program Outcomes

The Urban Construction Jobs Program was launched on July 1, 2014 and serves over 300 young adults in the State of California.
